Outdoor Family Activities for Springtime

Spring is on its way. Soon winter will pass by as the warmer weather comes to the forefront and you will experience longer daylight hours, budding leaves, and beautifully colored flowers will bloom. There are numerous ways to get outside and enjoy all that spring has to offer with your children or loved ones.

Here are some fun activities to enjoy with your family as the weather starts warming up:

Picnic

If you’ve been in the house too much over the winter this is the perfect way to enjoy the blue skies. Ask your kids to help you pack their favorite foods as you prepare for the picnic. Make some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bring along some trail mix and fruit. Don’t forget to bring extra water if you’re going to be gone for a few hours. Lay out your blanket outside on the beach or at a park. If you don’t feel like going too far from home then have a picnic in your own fenced in backyard.

Sidewalk chalk

Playing with sidewalk chalk is fun for all ages. Outline your child in silly poses or draw your favorite animal. The great thing about chalk is that the rainwater will wash it away clean and it won’t stain your clothes.

Tag you’re it!

Playing tag in your fenced in yard is a luxury because you don’t have to worry about your children running out into the street. This game will bring laughter and realign you with your inner playful spirit. Playing tag with your children will energize you for the rest of your day.

Use your imagination

Ask your kids what they want to do in your backyard by using their imaginations. Maybe they want to write secret codes on leaves and search for buried treasure. Maybe they want to pretend they are searching for crystals or fossils. Maybe they want to climb trees and jump from limb to limb or dig in the dirt. Let their imaginations run wild and see what they come up with.

Let’s go fly a kite

When your backyard is fenced in and your children are playing outside your mind is at ease knowing they will be safe.  Go to the dollar store and purchase a kite for your kids. Learning something new is always an exciting adventure and a learning experience for everyone.

Bike ride

Take a ride around the neighborhood and stretch your legs. This is a great way for everyone to get some exercise. You can even bring your dog if you’re feeling brave enough to navigate your bike and your dog at the same time.

Plant seeds

Spring is all about flowers blooming and new life emerging. Ask your kids to pick out some flowers from a local greenhouse and to help you plant them in your yard. You can also plant a garden this spring and watch as your lettuce and tomatoes grow into something glorious. There’s nothing like eating food straight from your backyard.

If your backyard is not fenced in please contact your local fence company in Melbourne, Florida. At Tripod Aluminum we use quality products combined with hard work to get the job accomplished in no time.
